NGO events are deliberate and are focused towards social development in a specific geographical location. Women’s inclusion in Nigeria is among many abnormalities that bedevil the most populous black nation and is hampering social development. Over the years, a non governmental organization known as the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy, and Development, also known as Centre LSD, has been at the forefront of using events to strategically champion developmental advocacies, using innovative and leadership strategies to achieve developmental strides.

Recognizing the need to enhance the dignity, opportunity, and capacity of those who have been disregarded in society, especially in Nigeria due to their identity, the Centre organized a high level event tagged “National Summit on Women’s’ Inclusion in Nigeria.”.

Eventpaadi will like to share insightful takeaways from the high level event that had notable personalities in attendance and was organised to address the problem of women’s inclusion in Nigeria.

Let’s begin

1. Connecting events and advocacy

By applying the best strategies to an NGO event, you can turn it into the sought-after platform for amplifying unified voices for a common goal. NGO events are a powerful advocacy tool because they have the potential of not only creating public consciousness but also motivating action and sparking the mobilization of a specific audience towards the goal.

During the women’s inclusion in Nigeria summit, Centre LSD was able to make their voices heard by creating the right atmosphere. To ensure they effectively attained their strategic goals, they attracted the right mix of stakeholders, such as decision makers, facilitators, women leaders, and women groups, as well as the media, they connected all event processes to reflect their advocacy.

2. Right partnership and collaborations

In today’s fast moving world, partnerships and collaborations cannot be overemphasized. Similarly, globalization has created certain ideals that have necessitated the need for collaboration and partnerships among businesses, organizations and individuals. Successful events have repeatedly proven this fact.

However. it is crucial for organizations to understand that not just any kind of partnership will do the magic, but rather a well-focused one. NGOs, especially, must be able to choose relevant partnerships that align with interest, organizations goals, and its objectives. If they are to make commendable developmental strides, they must be wise enough to select the right collaborations that will create the right pathways for their success.

The African Centre for Leadership Development and Strategy has continuously demonstrated this pattern, and it has afforded them the opportunity to build high-profit networks.

3. Be strategic with goals and objectives

One hallmark of achieving NGOs is the capacity to run with strategic goals. Strategic goals  cab be described as objectives you wish to accomplish within a specific time. More importantly,  the NGO must ensure that these strategic goals does not end up on paper, rather they should  put neccessary efforts to ensure they are achieved by creating milestones and monitoring them until they are achieved. Some benefits of, being strategic with goals are that it provides the NGO with clear direction and focus and the capacity to allocate resources accurately.

The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy, Leadership, and Development is renowned for setting strategic goals and achieving them within the stipulated time. This has reflected in their numerous successful social interventions.

Therefore, CentreLSD’s resolve to ensure women’s inclusion in governance in Nigeria is another strategic goal they are set to achieve. The high-level summit is therefore well calculated and move to accomplish the goal.

4. Using the right event technology to facilitate engagement

NGO events are characterized with high levels of engagement between facilitators, sponsors, and audiences. These engagements are necessary to ensure that all stakeholders are carried along and In addition, it is a good way to align various ideas with advocacy.

During the high-level women’s inclusion in Nigeria summit, the Centre deployed hybrid and virtual technology, which enhanced engagement across platforms enabled participants to engage virtually and ensured no stakeholder was left out.

Essentially, NGOs should find the right technologies that best fits their event type and audiences and which will ultimately assist them in effectively communicate their event goals and objectives.

5. Partner with the right event manager

NGOs need to recognize that not all event managers are equipped to handle NGO events. These events are unique and require professionals who understand their specific needs and can provide relevant technical services within the budget constraints set by donors. It’s also important to consider ethical standards when choosing an event manager.

The planning and execution of the event should align with the NGO’s values and avoid any practices that could contradict them. At the high-level summit, Eventpaadi provided professional and technical solutions, from venue branding to precision sound amplification, multimedia, and hybrid technologies.

In conclusion, NGOs can use well-managed events to achieve their strategic goals, amplify their voices, build relevant networks and partnerships, and, most importantly, communicate their advocacy efforts to the right audience, including decision-makers in society.
